Our brief was to create a series of flexible spaces that would encourage interaction between visitors and employees and amongst employees. The organisation places a strong emphasis on the importance of informal meetings (or formal meetings in an informal context). Two large meeting rooms are available for internal use or for outside groups. These can be fully contained or opened up to the main gallery space for larger functions. Careful exposure of the existing building fabric provides a sense of history and continuity and brings warmth and detail to the interior. The palette of materials has been stripped back to the absolute minimum thus reinforcing the sense of calm.
