At GS Architecture, we are committed to creating work that embodies beautiful and ethical design.  Based in London and Amsterdam, our studio is driven by the desire to deliver practical, functional and sustainable spaces that align with our clients’ unique needs and aspirations.

Our experienced team is the heart of our practice.  Reliable, friendly, and professional, we engage with every project thoughtfully, ensuring open communication and a client-focused approach to design.  We believe the journey of creating a project should be as thrilling as the outcome and we take great pleasure in guiding our clients through this transformative process.

Our design philosophy is not confined to a singular aesthetic but reflects each projects’ unique circumstances, ensuring that real-world constraints are met with creative solutions and that opportunity is found in adaptation.

The creation of a more sustainable built environment is of primary importance to us and wherever possible we will guide our clients in the use of the latest technological advances to achieve this aim.

A collaborative and flexible approach to design and construction has led to successful projects in the UK, Europe, the USA, and Africa.  In addition to a number of exciting UK projects we are currently working in Germany, France, Czechia and The Republic of Ireland.

Guy Stansfeld

Partner

Having graduated from University College Dublin in 1985 Guy moved to London where he spent 5 years working for CZWG Architects.  He became a key member of the team that designed their seminal, and now listed, China Wharf in Bermondsey.  He set up Guy Stansfeld Architects in 1990 where he continued to collaborate with CZWG on a number of projects, most notably the much loved and multi-award winning Turquoise Island public lavatories on Westbourne Grove.

With a view to building on the success of Guy Stansfeld Architects, together with long term colleagues and collaborators, Timothy Schmidt, Rachel Miller and Graeme Doctor, Guy formed GS Architecture in 2024.

Timothy Schmidt

Partner

Timothy spent his early years in North America and Africa, before attending the American School in London.  He received his MArch with honours from the Tulane University  in New Orleans USA, and received a distinction for his Part III qualification from the Bartlett, University College London.  He has enjoyed working on sustainable residential, commercial, academic, and healthcare projects in the UK, the US, and abroad.  Timothy has been working with Guy Stansfeld Architects since 2002 and is excited to continue this collaboration as a Partner in GS Architecture.

Rachel Miller

Partner

Rachel studied architecture at the University of Brighton, graduating in 2007. She subsequently honed her craft as a project architect working with Guy Stansfeld Architects, delivering residential and commercial projects of varying scale, from concept through to completion, including a Passivhaus retrofit. She is particularly passionate about the quality of the built environment and the interplay between sustainability, context and heritage and is delighted to be able to pursue this as a partner of GS Architecture, together with an exceptional team.

Graeme Doctor

Partner

Graeme graduated with a master’s from the University of Dundee in 2012 and qualified as an Architect from the University of Westminster in 2016. He joined the team at Guy Stansfeld Architects as an Architectural Assistant in 2014. Over 9 years he has delivered many prestigious private residential projects in London and in that time became a key member of the practice. As a Partner at GS Architecture, he continues to enjoy working on diverse projects in the UK and in the EU, alongside an excellent team.
