This project involved the reconfiguration of the lower ground floor and garden of a much loved family home. Despite the fact that the family spend most of their time together in and around the kitchen, the original kitchen was cramped, the dining area too small, and the available space generally poorly utilised.

The addition of a small fully glazed extension made it possible to completely transform the use of the space. The key decision was to eliminate the sense of the space being divided into several small rooms, and to consider it all as a single large kitchen/dining room with enough spatial variety for adults and teenagers to comfortably co-habit.

The use of natural materials internally and externally gives the house a feel of warmth and soul.
