This former worker’s cottage has been thoughtfully extended with a modern addition that draws inspiration from the surrounding agricultural landscape. The design is centred around a tranquil small pond, providing a focal point that enhances the connection between the indoor and outdoor spaces. Sustainable building methods have been employed throughout the project, emphasizing environmental responsibility and energy efficiency.
A long patent-glazed roof runs along the central circulation spine, flooding the interior with natural light, creating bright and airy spaces that enhance the living experience. The glazed roof also provides a visual connection to the sky, further integrating the interior with the landscape and offering views of the changing weather and seasons.
The extension boasts generous ceilings that echo the external building forms, creating a sense of continuity and spaciousness. The polished concrete floors add a sleek, contemporary touch, while also being durable and easy to maintain. Timber paneling is used extensively, adding warmth and texture to the interior, and creating a harmonious blend with the natural surroundings.
