This project involved the re-amalgamation and extension of an existing semi-detached Victorian villa, that had previously been carved up into two separate flats.

A minimal palette of materials was chosen for throughout the house, a pale oak herringbone floor on the upper levels, and a cast in-situ power floated concrete floor at the lower levels. A double height gallery connects the main living spaces at lower ground level with the more formal reception spaces at raised ground floor level. An elegant sculptural staircase culminates in a huge skylight bringing daylight deep into the plan.

The overall effect is to create a calm and Zen-like backdrop to family life without compromising practicality.
